Honey garlic butter sauce, a 10-minute sticky glaze made with butter, garlic, honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Perfect for chicken, wings, steak, pasta, and vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, finely minced

1/3 cup honey

2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

2 tablespoons water

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water, optional for thicker sauce

1 tablespoon chopped parsley or chives, optional for serving

Instructions

1. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.

2. Add minced garlic and cook 45 to 60 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant but not browned.

3. Add honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and water; whisk until smooth.

4. Simmer 2 to 3 minutes for a pourable sauce, or 4 to 5 minutes for a thicker sticky glaze.

5. For a thicker glaze, stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer 30 to 60 seconds more.

6. Remove from heat, stir in parsley or chives if using, and serve warm.

Notes

Do not brown the garlic, or it may turn bitter.

Simmer longer for a stickier glaze, shorter for a looser pasta sauce.

Reserve a clean portion of sauce before it touches raw meat; do not reuse marinade that touched raw poultry unless boiled first.

Store leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
